The Feldenkrais Method®

Feldenkrais lessons teach students how to move without pain by giving the brain movement choices and using its ability to discern what feels easier. In private Functional Integration® lessons, students learn to simplify how they move and realize their habitual movement patterns may be the source of their pain. By reprogramming their movement patterns with sustainable ones, students improve their overall mobility, self-image, posture, balance, strength, flexibility and ensure their future quality of life.

Healing Touch

Healing Touch is an energy therapy where practitioners intentionally and consciously use their hands in a heart-centered way to enhance, support and facilitate physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health and self-healing.  The goal of Healing Touch is to restore harmony and balance in the energy system to support the immune system, physical body, and optimize self-healing.  Remote sessions in Healing Touch are just as effective as in person sessions.

Clinical Herbalism

Used judiciously, the healing power of plants assists the body to gradually move in the direction of self-healing and optimal health. Although many pharmaceuticals are based on an active ingredient(s) extracted from plants, the use of whole plant extracts in alcoholic tinctures or soothing salves is a more holistic approach that harnesses the balanced power of our plant allies for the body to self-heal at its own natural time and pace.

Awareness Through Movement (ATM®) Classes

In Feldenkrais ATM® classes, students interpret verbal instructions to learn progressively complex movement patterns that are compatible with their current body structure. By developing their self-awareness to sense their bodies as they explore movement, students rediscover simpler, easier movement patterns that improve their movement efficiency, reduce unnecessary habitual muscular effort(s) that may perpetuate pain, and gain self-care tools to take themselves out of pain.

About Me

I received my Bachelor degree from UC Berkeley in Biochemistry and my Master and Doctorate degrees in Anatomy & Structural Biology from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of the Yeshiva University in the Bronx, NY. I completed my Feldenkrais training in 2008, Clinical Herbalism in 2017, and was certified in Healing Touch in 2024. I’ve taught students to walk or run more efficiently, and swim. I’ve helped Ehlers-Danlos students find stability, worked with students with acute or chronic pain, cancer survivors, students preparing for or undergoing cancer treatment, patients in the ICU, and assisted in end-of-life transitions.

“Movement is life. Without movement, life is unthinkable.”

For Your Health

What is good health and how do we maintain it? For the physical body and human energy system, we sense when our body is in pain or ungrounded, when the energy field is disconnected, unbalanced or when energy flow is blocked. Getting back to feeling well or whole may be a long process. When we ignore what our bodies and senses tell us for years, we run the risk of permanent physical damage, chronic pain or illness. Learning to attune, listen and take care of our bodies are the first steps towards good health by developing and maintaining regular self-care habits.

Components of Health

The seven chakras, root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, brow and crown, are energy centers that begin at the base of the spine and end at the top of the head. Each chakra aligns with the body’s midline, corresponds to an anatomical region, and has a specific color and tone. Their clockwise circular rotation permits the flow of energy from the universal energy field to the individual energy field to create and sustain the body’s energy field, biofield or aura.

Physical

Our bodies are grounded to the physical world by the root chakra and modeled after the energetic blueprint created by the throat chakra. Expression of one’s truths in speech and action reside in these chakras.

Emotional Stability

Feelings & creativity are transformed to the wisdom of compassion, insight, and unconditional love, from the sacral chakra, through the balance of the heart chakra, to the brow chakra.

Mental Clarity

Mental focus, linear thinking, mindset, beliefs, self-interests & self-esteem of the solar plexus chakra evolve to their higher forms in the crown chakra through love & forgiveness of the heart chakra.

Spiritual

The crown chakra integrates our physical and spiritual aspects through the heart chakra – the bridge. The crown chakra is our connection to Higher Self or Power, the Divine, Universe, Source, or God(s).

“Each one of us speaks, moves, thinks and feels in a different way, each according to the image of himself that he has built up over the years. In order to change our mode of action, we must change the image of ourselves that we carry within us.”

– Moshe Feldenkrais, PhD, Awareness Through Movement, 1972

“It is important to understand that if a man wishes to improve his self-image, he must first of all learn to value himself as an individual, even if his faults as a member of society appear to him to outweigh his qualities.”

– Moshe Feldenkrais, PhD, Awareness Through Movement, 1972

“Caring for another person for their highest good involves respect, courtesy, humility, care and highest regard for the person's individuality, beliefs, inherent worth and dignity.”

The Aha! Moment

What we think we can or cannot do reinforces how our minds restrict our potential to ourselves. In one of the Awareness Through Movement (ATM®) lessons taught at the Amherst training in 1981, Dr. Feldenkrais introduced a movement in a lesson that seemed impossible to do initially but, by moving slowly and delicately, the impossible became …

Creating Sustainable Habits

In movement, the word “habit” connotes a sense of familiarity that may or may not be useful. For example, if my shoulder hurts every time I pick up my coffee cup to take a sip, that’s not good. But pain is an opportunity to explore a habitual movement pattern that can be improved. Given that perspective, I allow myself the freedom to explore an ache as…

Feldenkrais® Learning Curve

Less than two weeks before a Feldenkrais training segment in my 4th year, I was hit by a car while walking across a street in Vienna. The x-ray of my knee taken the night of the accident indicated my knee joint was not injured. An MRI taken after I returned home indicated a small tear of my anterior medial…
